Almost a year a go a friend and myself took a trip to Burton and took a range of wonderful and bizarre images and this month we did it again. This time, we went to a different area and it wasn’t long after storm Dennis either. It was a wonderful place with incredible architecture and history. As you can see, there were a large variety of subjects to photograph and had fun doing so. This may not seem anything overly amazing to write about but it’s just a reminder that it’s good to unwind and just simply creat because you can, with or without friends. It’s just important to remember to have fun with your craft.
Due to recent cirumstances, it has meant that I’ve had to go through my drawers full of photography stuff. I imagine we all have those bit and bobs related to our craft that we put in a drawer and forget about. So here is an example of a couple of things that were found in the drawers. I found two lighting gels and some random props and decided to just have some fun with them. To be honest, never having really used gels before for a proper photoshoot, it’s safe to say that they are a lot of fun. Have you guys out there ever had a clean out of your arty storage and forgotten about half of the stuff that was in there? If so, what have you found and did you finally make use of them or throw them away, let me know in the comment section.
Here’s a popular question among photographers. What is your opinion on digital manipulation? There are people out there who believe a photograph is only a photograph if it is completely untouched and straight from camera, even though images have been manipulated since the invention of dark rooms with dodging and burning. However, that is their opinion, do you share that opinion? If so, that’s fine because what kind of world would it be if we all had the same opinions? As you may have noticed by now, I’m not that kind of person. I really enjoy experimenting with all sorts of manipulation, in-camera, digital or on the print itself. This year has been a time when I’ve been learning more about Photoshop and the things you can do with it. Manipulations can bring your image to life in a way you never thought about and can really make you think about taking it to the next level. It’s very early days yet with Photoshop and all the bizarre things it has to offer but that’s the joy of experimenting. Here is just a small variety of different manipulations that have been made this year.
