You Got A Friend in Me

This October has been the first time in a while I’ve really gotten back into dark photography; so as photographers and as friends, the three of us teamed up to create a story each that involved the other two people. This is a great exercise to do with friends because it really gets your creativity flowing again, you get to encourage each other and feed of each other’s ideas. It’s really brought back my love of creating macabre shoots again and if you’re ever feeling creatively blocked, ask or rope your friends into doing an exercise like this and you’ll be back to your artistic self in no time. I’ve just got to keep that feeling going now it’s back, so here at SE Photos, we invite you all to come with us on this journey into the darker side of art. We’re open to collaboration or commissions as well as prints for sale and we hope you enjoy this journey with us we progress further.

I wish you all wonderful creativity and a happy All Hallow’s Eve/Samhain and stay safe

A Dark Challenge

It’s that time of year again when the old clothes and the dark makeup comes out again and new inspirations for photo shoots pop up everywhere. This year I’ve been sure to do one photo shoot a month and have stuck to the challenge (see project page for more information on this). However, October is  special because it brings out my fun side and has got me thinking about going back to my roots in photography a little. Instead of doing just one shoot of something quite random (and often pretty) this month, I’ll be doing at least three dark photo shoots this month, hopefully more. It’s going to be challenging because it’s got to balance out with work and things but it’ll be so much fun to be inspired by the darker time of year.
What inspires you the most at this time of year? Let me know in the comment section.
Here are 2 shoots I’ve managed to do this month (including my first self-portrait), wish me luck for the next ideas.
